DIVING IN ELEUTHERA

In front of "Med Point", there are many
reefs offshore, as seen in the Nautical
chart of the sea in front of the house.
You can see how close the reefs are to Med Point, in this picture taken by a German pilot, who stayed at Med Point
You can catch your
own dinner within minutes. Renters have reported seeing large crawfish
(Caribbean lobster), yellowtail, red snapper, amberjack, and many other
varieties of fish. In fact, locals say that the point to the left of
the house on the beach, about 200 yards away, is known to be a great
place to dive. Bring your fins and masks.
If you want to rent this equipment or any other specialized equipment can be rented or purchased
at Clearwater Dive Shop in
Governors Harbour. Check out the Reef Reports of Eleuthera, to see what type of fish you will encounter in the area.

Herman, pictured above with Wendy, a past renter, is the "man" when it comes to local diving. He dives every chance he gets in front of Med Point, at the seafood rich reefs. He can take you out for a day to show you the ropes, or he can just bring by his catch of the day, so you can cook it up. Don't be shy, talk to Herman and tell him what you wish to do.

To see good dive spots both in Harbour Island, and other parts of the island, go HERE. Click on the "Harbour Island" link, if you are interested in exploring wrecks.
1) TWIN COVE: North of Gov. Harbour on the Atlantic about 2 miles; lots of reefs and a few offshore islands, and lots of reefs.
2) CLUB MED BEACH: Club Med is temporarily closed, but you can still use their beach, which is, typically for Club Med, some of the finest beach on the island. Shallow water in parts, good for kids to snorkel.
3) SOUTH OF PALMETTO POINT: North of Double Bay, off a windy, barely passable dirt road, you can find some desolate areas; if you feel ambitious, you can go off the Gut Islands about a half-mile off shore.
4) DOUBLE BAY: On the southmost part of the beach, is an old wreck. On th Queens Highway, go past road to Palmetto Point; next paved road on the left; go to dead end, and take right to end of beach, and you will see the old wreck.
5) TEN BAY: On the Atlantic side south of Palmetto Point, near Double Bay, in a relatively calm area, in half-moon bay.
